The options screen will appear, and on the left hand side at the bottom is the options to have large English and Arabic text. To select one or both of these options tap the stylus in the box/boxes next the option you wish to select and wait until a tick appears.
You have the option to display Sura text in either Arabic or English. The red bookmark in the bottom left hand corner of the Qur'an text page allows you swap between Arabic and English. To exit the Sura list tap on the top border this will return you to the front cover of the Quran where you can access the other screens of the program.
Shown at the bottom of the screen throughout the program are transport controls that allow you to navigate the recitation. To stop the Sura from playing tap the stylus on the screen where the square button appears. This will stop the recital and return you to the start of the currently selected Sura.
If the PDA’s internal clock is correct find out if the day light savings time has been set. Start the Al'Murshid program, navigate to the map screen either with the hidden tabbed menu or by repeatedly tapping the IRC logo. Tap options to bring up the options selection screen. Does the box next to DST have a tick in it? If the city you are in or near requires the DST to be set, there should be a tick in this box. To check if the DST needs to be selected, check the local time against the time shown on the PDA. If the time difference is an exact number of hours you will need to select the DST option. If you change the time or the DST settings the software will recalculate prayer times for the current day, this will take a few moments. Wait until the calculation is complete before using the software.
The system time may not be correct, or the the Daylight Saving Time setting may be incorrect. See previous question for setting DST. The currently selected home city may not be correct. Go to the clock screen and check the location that is displayed beneath the clock face. If the current city is not your current location or the nearest city to your current location you will need to change the selected city. Tap the stylus onto the FN and Islamic Research Centre writing to display the city selection. Scroll through the list using the scroll bar on the right hand side of the screen. When you have found the city you wish to select tap the city name with the stylus. Wait for a few moments for the prayer times to recalculate. Method 1 To set the location to your desired location you have to go to the main large clock face and tap the stylus on the FN and Islamic Research Centre writing. This will take you into the city selection list. Using the scroll bar on the right hand side scroll through the alphabetical list to your desired country and then select a city. To select a city tap the stylus on the screen on the writing of the city name and wait as this may take a second or two for the prayers to recalculate.

This is displayed on the map by different coloured lines.
This screen is only a representation of a compass and it does not have a real compass located in the unit. To find the relative direction to Makkah you have to align yourself and the iPAQ unit so that you are both facing North. The compass screen will then show you the correct way to Makkah from your currently selected location.
This is a hidden feature that was originally written into the software so that the audio files could be quickly demonstrated.
This is caused by the prayer times being close to each other. As the distance between the prayers becomes smaller as the next prayer time approaches the names of the two prayers overlap causing the writing to look distorted.
The Sunrise/Sunset screen does not automatically use your current deafault location. To select the city that you wish to see the sunrise / sunset times for tap the stylus onto the screen where it says FN and the Islamic Research Centre. This will bring up the city selection list. Scroll through the options using the scroll bar on the right hand side of the screen. Select the city of your choice by tapping the stylus onto the city name.
On the smaller dials the face turns to black during the hours of darkness in the city that you have selected. This enables you to tell if the time that is shown is actually AM or PM. However the main clock face will not change to black during the hours of darkness.
Setting the smaller dials to different cities around the world will not affect the prayer time calculations.
The main clock will be set to the current location that you have already selected. The other four clocks can to be set separately. If you tap the small clock face with the stylus, the city selection list will appear. Scroll through the list using the scroll bar that is on the right hand side of the page. When you have found your desired city select it by tapping the name once with the stylus. Repeat as required for the other clock faces.
This part of the software is a visual representation of the traditional prayer calculation method by the length of the shadow cast by the sun for different times of the day. The length of the shadow cast with relation to the height of the stick indicates when a prayer is due.
The shadow length ratio is the length of the shadow cast in relation to the length of the stick. The shadow length is measured to calculate the different prayer times during daylight. |
